Sydney has received the highschool subject award in drawing and painting in both grade 9 and 11 and was selected as artist of the month for her African wild dog pastel piece.
Who or what inspires Sydney to create?Sydney has always gravitated to art! As an early artist she was inspired by her pets, books and the natural world, often seen drawing and painting outdoors. Learning more about her heritage in Newfoundland and Ireland inspired her portraits, highlighting ginger hair and freckles in many of her pieces. More recently she is inspired by classmates who enjoy art and share her passion to be creative.
What is Sydney's favorite art form?Big or small, paintings are Sydney’s favorite art form. She loves the endless possibilities and the creative process with paint mediums. She has enjoyed learning more about colour theory and how to create realism with a paintbrush.
