Tell us about Malia's artwork.

Malia's passion for art started with making outdoor settings with vibrant backgrounds. Often times if the sky is showing off colors, she will take a picture and then try to include that in her next painting! Malia's artwork involves a lot of scenery and images with positive messages. She uses her artwork to be a form of inspiration and positivity.

Who or what inspires Malia to create?

One of her favorite things to create is sketches and paintings of birds! Her great grandpa was also very artistic and an avid bird watcher and lover and I think she got her love of drawing birds from him! Malia also creates places that she would love to go to if she could or places she has enjoyed being! She envisions the scenery and then goes from there adding detail and features. Her inspiration to create is non-stop.

What is Malia's favorite art form?

Malia loves all art forms, but her favorite is sketching. She practices sketching in a lot of ways and tries to "perfect" specific features such as hands or eyes when she is trying something new. Malia also loves to paint, especially blending colors. She has also recently started making jewelry out of clay. In addition, she enjoys being involved in her school band, church choir, and school and community theater performances and is always eager to help design or create set pieces, too!
