Learn MoreKayley believes there is beauty in confusion. She strives to create pieces that could have many different meanings according to the viewer's personal take and imagination. One of her paintings, "Which Way Is Up?" is designed to be hung from any angle. The way in which it is hung tells the story differently. Currently, she's creating an AP art portfolio on the impact of dreams on the dreamer and the pursuance of the dream.
Who or what inspires Kayley to create? One of Kayley's mentors, Fred Holly, a collaborator on the movie "The Dark Crystal," inspired her to lean into the use of color in her paintings and to experiment with different art forms. He taught her to paint with acrylics, which remains her favorite art form. When Kayley was 14, Fred invited her to participate in his adult painting class. It was her first studio experience. In 2021, Fred was diagnosed with cancer. He lives 2 hours from us now, but Kayley still shares her work with him.
What is Kayley's favorite art form?Kayley loves acrylic painting. She is very skilled in blending colors to get just the right shade, especially for skin tones. She also loves using mixed media to create artwork that is primarily paint-based, but may incorporate different types of paint as well as colored pencil, crayon, blocks, fabric and more.
