As a young child, Jax would use rulers to make boxes on printer paper to make their own comics, interweaving word and image to bring art to life. Nowadays that trajectory hasn’t shifted much, but rather expanded to the detail and individual attention to characters and creatures from shows and anime’s that they’re invested in. “Sketching or drawing these characters and creatures allows me to see something come to life on the page - and it gives me pride that I was able to do that.” - Jaxson

Who or what inspires Jaxson to create?

“I’ve always been drawn to manga and anime, but it all started with Dav Pilkey’s Captain Underpants series. The level of comic mixed with writing really stood out to me, and I’d spend hours or days making goofy comics hoping I’d manage to live up to the series. Even now my art and love for it comes from that sense of happiness Pilkey’s writing and artwork gave me. With time, it now comes from wanting to make better art, and to family members that have always supported me.“ - Jaxson

What is Jaxson's favorite art form?

“I love physical art because I’m able to feel the textures or watch as each addition builds to the whole. Most of my art is typically pencil to paper, but I’ve been learning and leaning into painting, charcoal, and other mediums. Each line, stroke, or physical mark is an accomplishment in me. Being able to run my fingers over the page, feel the lines and dips in the paper from my pencil from something I made is a huge reason my notebooks are filled with drawings or sketches.“ - Jaxson
