James loves color! If you ask him about his favorite color, he will tell you it’s “rainbow” or “all the colors!” The thing James loves most about the artistic process is the “doing.” He likes to plan out what he’s going to do, but the actual process of creating excites him. Sometimes things turn out differently than he planned, and he likes that he can “tweak” his piece as he goes. He loves art because it’s so hands-on, and he finds that very relaxing and calming.

James rejoices in finding inspiration in “the world around me!” He also finds inspiration in animals and nature—or even monsters and mythical creatures in his favorites video games and books. James’ dream is to be a children’s book illustrator. In addition to making art, he absolutely loves to read and is often amazed at the beautiful artwork he sees in books.

For “anytime, anywhere” artwork, James keeps it simple with pencil and sketchpad. When it comes to making a special piece, he loves paint or oil pastels. He also loves working with clay and making anything from toy figurines, bowls, Christmas ornaments, or even a tic-tac-toe board!
