Tell us about Gus's artwork.

Gus loves to experiment and improvise, and they enjoy discussing their artistic process while it is going on. They often start with an idea about how to use a tool, medium, or found object, and as they try out that idea, they find the feelings or stories they want to express. For example: one day they wanted to see what it would be like to make one painting across two small canvasses, and they ended up adding a third and fourth, each arranged to show a different part of a scene they made up.

Who or what inspires Gus to create?

Gus finds beauty and meaning everywhere they look, and they are never happier than when they are able to share what they find. Whether they are telling their family to stop everything and look at a sunset, or designing a necklace to give to a friend, their passion is always to give beauty to others. They want to help everyone see the wonderful and interesting things they see.

What is Gus's favorite art form?

Gus is artistically omnivorous and they always want to try new things, but some forms they often return to: (1) acrylic paint on small canvas, (2) black and white pencil drawings, (3) beaded jewelry. They are also very interested in storytelling and myths, and often incorporate those elements into whatever form they are using.
