Learn MoreDesmond’s subject matter spans from outer space, to animals, to nature, cities, buildings, made up characters. His imagination knows no boundaries. He makes creative drawings, he sculpts out of clay, wax, pipe cleaners, he can make something out of any material. Lately he has loved making stop motion animations, he builds his own sets and creates his own characters and stories. He utilizes his skills… comics, sculpting, drawing, painting, animating all come together to make up his universe.
Who or what inspires Desmond to create?Desmond is honestly inspired by Bob Ross, the show relaxes him and he often watches before bedtime, he knows all the episodes by heart and often exclaims “he’s SO GOOD” multiple times during an episode. Otherwise he’s also inspired by outerspace books, cartoons…he loves Wallace and Gromit, we went to the Alexander Calder circus exhibit recently and he loved that. Desmond is also inspired by nature, we live in the woods. He loves the Museum of Natural History.. his inspiration runs deep and wide.
What is Desmond's favorite art form?Desmond loves all art forms and using them simultaneously. His favorite art form of the moment is stop motion animation, it synthesizes his love of drawing, sculpting storytelling. He combines cell animation which involves drawing and painting, he uses natural material to build elaborate sets, he makes comics to plan for his animations.
