Learn MoreCherish paints and pencil sketches. She’s done murals for her school & for the disabled in our area as a community service, along with sanding & painting a life size tiger statue in the middle of our town. She’s without art training (small 1A rural school and town) & is completely self taught. You can really see the creativeness come out in her strokes & colors. Year 1 of winning county fair 1st best of show she sketched our dog who passed & year 2 she won 1st best of show for painting a deer.
Who or what inspires Cherish to create?Cherish has had an appreciation for the beauty in nature from the time she was a little girl. The colors of the sunsets, the beautiful colored flowers in spring, especially the farm animals we have. Some of her first sketches were a deer that adopted us during a hard winter one year. From that moment, I knew she was born to create art. She could see things through a different lens. She loves to sketch peoples dogs after they pass to help them through grief & use art to uplift her community.
What is Cherish's favorite art form?Cherish loves painting the most because she gets to experiment with colors and strokes. She feels like she’s better at sketching realistic works, but enjoys letting her art flow through colors and strokes in painting. Getting to use her creativity at a more complex level is what makes painting more enjoyable for her. Murals and statues have been some of her funnest work she says.
