Brooke typically does larger scale pieces. Her "One Board Girl" piece was created on collaged board and captures the tension between domesticity and creativity. The board, traditionally associated with homemaking, becomes a stage wehre the female is both decorative and restless, yearning to create in a space that demands her composure. The creation of this piece between functional object and fine art, showing how women are often expected to be both useful and aesthetically pleasing.

Who or what inspires Brooke to create?

"One Board Girl" was heavily inspired by her aunt, "Sweet T." She owns her own charcuterie shop, and Brooke craves the taste of the cheeses and jams, but can't help but mourn the hidden artistry that lives in her aunt Traci. In many ways, Brooke feels she inherited her artistic drive from her, and she carries the responsibility to pursue that calling unapologetically, in the way she never had the chance to.
