Ada is almost 12 and lives for art! She works in all media, all the time.
Thank you for supporting Ada in this year's competition. Your participation made a huge impact for Blood Cancer United and their mission to cure blood cancer and improve the quality of life of all patients and their families.
Ada works across a wide range of media including painting, sculpture, fiber, paper, photography, baking, writing, and music. She loves putting her hands to paper whenever possible and is always eager to learn new skills—whether that means glassblowing Christmas ornaments or elevating plastic jewelry with silver clay.
Who or what inspires Ada to create?Nature is a constant source of inspiration. On walks, Ada might notice acorn caps and collect them to transform into tiny figures or needle felted nuts later on. Her dad also plays a central role in her artistic life; as a practicing artist and her current elementary school art teacher, he helps instill the idea that there’s always time and space to make art.
What is Ada's favorite art form?Painting is Ada’s favorite medium because of its endless possibilities. She is currently learning oil painting, which differs from watercolor but still relies on brushes and some similar rendering techniques. Painting can be bold and loud, soft and atmospheric—or both!
